In 2016, three dreamers opened up shop in Venice, CA: a doc shooter at the dawn of streaming, a camera house veteran seeking new beginnings, and an analytically sharp creative from fashion. Each brought a unique perspective to a shared vision.

We launched from a closet-sized office with a couple of cinema cameras and two core objectives: challenge camera house cynicism and forge transparent, collaborative relationships.

Seven years later, we've transformed from a small team to a local leader in camera support across docs, branded content, commercials, indie features, and television. Our 5-star reputation and expanding gear list tell only part of the story. What truly defines Rare Breeds is our foundational belief that expertise and empathy are not mutually exclusive at a rental house.
